The Georgia State Student Recreation Center was built on the University’s downtown Atlanta site with issues that included underground sewer and storm water utilities on the site as well as abandoned underground gasoline tanks. The facility contains two swimming pools, four basketball courts, four handball courts, and a squash court; a climbing wall, fitness center, weight center, game room, multi-purpose rooms, aerobics rooms, lockers, showers and administrative offices. The project included the construction of a large utility tunnel constructed under Decatur Street to provide hot and chilled water from the University’s central plant to the building.

Brookwood’s services included preparation of RFQ for AE design firms, development of AE and Contractor agreements, preparation of RFP for pre-construction services from contractors, coordination of design meetings with Owner, and oversight of AE’s design work. Brookwood was also responsible for total project budget and total project Schedule, and development of project budget control for which Brookwood employed its highly successful Multi-Track/Reconciliation costing method.
